'The Greatest Wonder of the Age' - Andrew Meikle and John Rennie

An exciting new exhibition tracing the lives of East Lothian’s world-famous engineers. Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the death of Meikle and the 250th anniversary of the birth of Rennie, this exhibition is not to be missed— a mix of informative text and rare imagery.

Writer of the Year Competition - 2011

“Entries are now being invited for the Writer of the Year 2011 competition organised by Tyne and Esk Writers in conjunction with East Lothian and Midlothian library services. Anyone over the age of sixteen, living, working, or studying in East Lothian or Midlothian can enter. Entries can be in any form of prose or poetry. There is a £100 top prize, which is awarded with a trophy, specially designed for the competition by glass artist Alison Kinnaird. The overall winner will also receive a one to one creative writing session with Tom Murray, Creative Writing Fellow. The competition is sponsored by Simon Kesley of Kesley`s Book Shop in Haddington.
Entry forms with details and rules of the competition are available on-line and in all libraries. The closing date is 19th August
